As part of its series of special, one-day, Unrated tournaments, the Roanoke Valley Chess Club recently held its SPRING QUICK CHESS TOURNAMENT . This tournament was held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 in the Community Room of the Roanoke Natural Foods Co-Op in Roanoke, Virginia.

The tournament was a round-Robin event, with ALL entries being returned as prizes ! The time control was Game in 15/5 TIME CONTROL and was played under modified Quick Chess Rules.

There was plenty of excitement and drama in all of the games. The upset game of the event was a win on time by 11 year old Josh Lewis over a former West Virginia State Champion!

In all, there were 3 players who won cash prizes! The indomitable Sam Kennedey won a clear First Place and Josh Lewis and Mike Huff tied for 2nd and 3rd place. Congratulations to all of the prize winners ! The on-site Tournament Director was Ray Megginson. There were no significant problems of any kind and everyone appeared to have a really good time!
