2011 JACK FROST QUICK CHESS TOURNAMENT

The Jack Frost Quick Chess Tournament took place on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at the Roanoke Natural Foods Store (Co-Op). Four players participated in a 6-round double-round robin, and everyone agreed to changing the time control from G/10 to G/15, allowing for more serious and thoughtful competition.

First place went to NM Russell Potter-- an unstoppable juggernaut with a perfect 6-0 score! Coming in at second place with a very impressive 4-2 score was Sam Kennedy, who graciously donated his winnings to the Roanoke Valley Chess Club. Third place with 2 victories was the always formidable Vernon Robinson. Top amateur was Eric Diaz. Both players also generously donated their prizes to the club.

NM Potter also contributed post-mortem game analysis, tips on openings and strategy, and cheerful assistance to the TD. Everyone had a great time! It all adds up to another successful event at the RVCC!
