COMPLETED ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 8th.
On Saturday, Aug.15, Ladder Director Richard White awarded the cash and trophy prizes for the Roanoke Valley Chess Club's Spring / Summer Challenge Ladder. The awards were given out to the winners in a ceremony held at the Bochman Memorial tournament, which was held at St. John's Lutheran Church. Richard informs us that over a dozen players participated in a thrilling, last-round bid for the trophies and $$$ prizes that were at stake.
The following prizes were awarded to the following players : First Place : Richard White.
Second Place : Josh Lilly.
Third Place : Chris Moore.
Top Amateur : Takeo Agaki.
Most Games Played : Bob Day.
Top Upset : Mayen Bior.
Richard tells us that the club's Fall / Winter challenge Ladder will be starting up on Saturday, November 14 at the club's regular headquarters at the Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op.
Interestingly, he also said that there will be a SUBSTANTIAL increase in the prizes that will be awarded for the upcoming Challenge Ladder !
