ROANOKE VALLEY CHESS CLUB 2009-2010 FALL-WINTER
CHALLENGE LADDER COMPLETED ON SATURDAY, APRIL 3 th.

Here are the final standings for the Fall Winter Ladder Challenge. There were some surprising upsets and interesting outcomes on the final day of this event.

Ray Megginson almost regained the top spot back in game two against Richard White in a complex game. Although Ray's position was better, the game ultimately ended in a draw.

The big upset for the ladder happened when Aiden Taylor managed to defeat Eric Diaz not once but twice, during the final competition for spots. This put Aiden in third place. Hats off to young Aiden who is showing considerable improvement for being as young as he is !

I would personally like to extend my gratitude to those who regularly attended meetings and helped out with membership, organizing and coordination of various club functions.

I would also like to thank National Master Rusty Potter, for his willingness to set aside time on the second Saturday of each month to organize games and offer free game score analysis for those who participate.

My thanks to Mike Huff for organizing the third weekend of the month and being present to play new members as well as participate in the Ladder Games.
